Both synthesis reagents and detection reagents are summarized in chemistry as reagents. The term "synthesis reagent" describes reagents that serve to modify a reactant of a chemical reaction (e.g., Grignard reagent). In doing so, they are themselves implemented during the reaction. Detection reagents serve to identify certain substances in the field of analysis. For example, the use of such a detection agent during a detection reaction results in a specific color change or precipitation. Subsequently, it is possible to deduce the chemical properties, for example its functional groups, of the substance to be detected. Examples are the Fehling solution and the Bettendorf reagent. So-called group reagents are used for the somewhat less specific determination of the substance group affiliation.
In this category you will find reagents of all kinds, filterable by specificity, manufacturer, application such as ELISA, IHC, IP or PCR, clones, source species and isotype.
