Solus Scientific – Detection of Pathogens or Allergens in Food

Solus Scientific provides affordable, reliable, and robust diagnostic testing services for the rapid detection of pathogens or allergens in food. The tests are both commercially and scientifically useful as they allow proven technologies to be automated, thereby increasing throughput productivity.

In 2010 Solus Scientific emerged from two companies, RayAl Ltd and Solus Scientific Ltd. In order to combine research and development capacities with an established customer base, the two established companies merged. Solus vision was to develop rapid immunoassays specifically for the food safety market. In 2013, the first proprietary products completed certification according to ISO 16140 (AFNOR). As a result, our partner established itself as one of the leading providers of pathogen testing and automated test equipment for the food industry in Great Britain and created a global network.

Solus Scientific offers highly efficient screening systems that test for the presence of pathogens in food and environmental smears. The traditional culture method for growing bacteria is slow and labor intensive. It also relies on a certain level of expertise to identify suspicious colonies. Molecular methods are sophisticated alternatives, but they are expensive to use. In addition to expensive special equipment, specially trained personnel and specially made facilities are required. Solus pathogen detection systems are the most inexpensive and least labor intensive methods. They use proven immunoassay technology that is easy to use and does not require a lengthy biochemical identification process. Solus Scientific is available as a complete solution for the screening of food pathogens, offering instruments and selective enrichment media for Salmonella and Listeria screening.

The Solus Pathogen Detection System offers highly efficient assays for the detection of Salmonella, Listeria or E. coli O157 in food and environmental samples. Each system includes a specially designed immunoassay kit, selective enrichment media and automated liquid handling. The pathogen detection system is robust, reliable and all assays are validated by external independent laboratories according to AFNOR 16140 and/or certified by the AOAC Performance Tested Method program.
