What is phosphorylation?
Phosphorylation represents the attachment of phosphate groups to proteins. By means of an enzymatic kinase reaction, phosphate groups can be attached to three amino acid residues serine, threonine or tyrosine.
Why is phosphorylation important?
Phosphorylation is an important regulation in cellular biological processes. The attachment of phosphate groups often results in conformational changes of the protein, which in turn can lead to activation. Thus, inactivated and activated forms can exist. Many transcription factors are activated in this way via signal transduction cascades, for example CREB.
In addition, protein binding sites can be regulated by phosphorylation or dephosphorylation to prevent or restore protein complex formation. Receptors, such as G-coupled receptors are regulated in this way.
What are phospho-antibodies?
Phosphospecific antibodies are affinity-purified rabbit polyclonal or monoclonal antibodies that are monospecific to a phosphorylated target protein. These antibodies provide critical insights into the study of complex signal transduction processes.

The quality of Affinity Biosciences
Affinity Biosciences is an ISO 9001 certified company. The quality management system guarantees consistently high quality products for your research projects.
To generate antibodies, a high-quality peptide design is used, which enables specific, selective and reproducible antibodies. Synthetic peptide haptens and recombinant proteins are used for this purpose. The former are incomplete antigens, which only become complete antigens when bound to a carrier protein and can trigger an immune response. The synthetic or recombinant component allows antibody production to be precisely controlled and monitored. Specific protein regions and isoforms can be targeted.
A wealth of published data and numerous literature references reflect the quality and reliability of the products.
The U.S. company provides all relevant information and comprehensive data sheets for all items in its extensive product range. Information on applications and species as well as supporting data such as references, images and reviews are also clearly listed. Affinity Biosciences offers professional scientific support for end users around the clock.
Affinity Biosciences - Always up to date
Affinity Biosciences' ongoing collaboration with numerous renowned pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies and academic institutions is beneficial to improving research efficiency and competitiveness.
