Description: Maxacalcitol (22-Oxacalcitriol) is a novel calcitriol analog without hypercalcemic side effects. It is an agonist of vitamin D3/2 receptor (VDR) and can effectively block PTH synthesis. Maxacalcitol (OCT) induces hCAP-18/LL-37 production in human orally bioavailable epithelial cells. Maxacalcitol Provides Cardioprotective Effects in Diabetes Mellitus. Maxacalcitol ameliorates tubulointerstitial fibrosis in obstructed kidneys by recruiting PPM1A/VDR complex to pSmad3.
