Description: Tributyrin (Glyceryl tributyrate; NSC661583) is a neutral short-chain fatty acid triglyceride which is a stable and rapidlyabsorbed prodrug of Butyric Acid. Tributyrin diffuses through biologicalmembranes and is metabolized by intracellular lipases, releasingeffective butyrate directly into the cell in vivo. Tributyrin has potentantiproliferative, proapoptotic and differentiation-inducing effects.
