Neurokinin B is potent bronchioconstrictor and has neruomodulatory roles in various brain functions. Neurokinin B is a member of the tachykinin family of neuropeptides that also includes Substance P and Neurokinin A. These carboxyl terminal-amidated peptides are derived from two preprotachykinin genes - the PPT-A gene encodes the sequences of Substance P. Neurokinin A. and neuropeptide K and the PPT-B gene encodes the sequence of Neurokinin B. Neurokinin B stimulate the production of immunoglobulins in peripheral B lymphocytes.
