Immunogen: |
PHA activated human lymphocytes |
Fusion Partner: |
Spleen cells from immunised BALB/c mice were fused with cells of the mouse NS1 myeloma cell line. |
Specificity Note: |
This product binds to the human CD39 cell surface antigen a 70 - 100kD molecule expressed on peripheral blood B cells monocytes and T cell clones. CD39 is also weakly expressed on granulocytes. CD39 has intrinsic ecto-ATPase activity. Expression of CD39 is induced on T cells and increased on B cells as a late activation antigen. This antibody has been shown to block MHC independent target cell recognition by hapten-specific CTL. is recommended for this purpose (8). |

Function: |
In the nervous system could hydrolyze ATP and other nucleotides to regulate purinergic neurotransmission. Could also be implicated in the prevention of platelet aggregation. Hydrolyzes ATP and ADP equally well. |
Catalytic Activity: |
ATP + 2 H2O = AMP + 2 phosphate. Cofactor: Calcium. Cofactor: Magnesium. Biophysicochemical Properties: |
Subunit: |
Homodimer; disulfide-linked (By similarity). |
Subcellular Location: |
Membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein (Potential). |
Tissue Specificity: |
Expressed primarily on activated lymphoid cells. Also expressed in endothelial tissues. The vascular isoform and the placental isoform II are present in both placenta and umbilical vein whereas placental isoform I is present in placenta only. |
Ptm: |
The N-terminus is blocked. |
Ptm: |
Palmitoylated in the N-terminal part. |
