Biological Activity |
Fully biologically active when compared to standard. The ED50 determined by a cell proliferation assay using monkey 4MBr-5 cells is less than 75 ng/ml. |
Description |
Human KGF-1 also known as Fibroblast growth factor 7 (FGF-7), is encoded by the FGF7 gene. KGF-1 only binds to the b splice form of the tyrosine kinase receptor, FGFR2b/KGFR. Affinity between KGF-1 and its receptor can be increased by heparin or heparin sulfate proteoglycan. FGF-10, also called keratinocyte growth factor 2 (KGF-2), shares 51% amino acid sequence identity and similar function to KGF-1, but uses an additional receptor, FGFR2c. KGF-1 plays an important role in the regulation of embryonic development, cell proliferation and cell differentiation. KGF-1 activates keratinocytes, but exhibits essentially no activity for fibroblasts. KGF-1 has species crossactivity, human KGF-1 shares 96% and 92% amino acid sequence identity with mouse and rat FGF-7, respectively. Recombinant Human KGF-1 is a single, non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 163 amino acids. |
Endotoxin Level |
<1 EU/ug as determined by LAL method. |
Formulation |
Lyophilized from a 0.2 um sterile filtered solution in 20 mM PB, pH 8.0 + 0.5 M NaCl. |
Molecular Weight |
ca.18.9 kDa |
Reconstitution |
Centrifuge vial prior to opening. Add sterile distilled water or aqueous buffer to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/ml. Further dilutions should be made in appropriate buffered solutions. |
Storage and Stability |
The lyophilized protein is stable at 2-8C. Upon receipt, store desiccated at -20C. After reconstitution, the preparation is stable for up to one week at 2-8C. For maximal stability, apportion the reconstituted preparation into working aliquots and store at -20C to -80C. For long term storage of reconstituted protein, it is recommended that a carrier protein such as 0.1% BSA or HSA be added. This depends on the particular application. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles. |
Specificity |
>1.3 x 104 IU/mg. |
