Mouse Anti-Human CD14, Monocyte, Macrophage marker (Clone MEM-18) mAb

MEM-18 is a well characterized antibody that reacts with the human monocyte marker CD14, aa 53 kDa glycoprotein. The CD14 molecule has been reported to be involved in the endotoxin mediated release of Tumor Necrosis Factor alpha by monocytic cells (see S.D. Wright et al.). MEM-18 inhibits the endotoxin induced release of TNF by monocytes because it blocks the binding of LPS-LBP to monocytes. CD14 is present on most monocytic and macrophage like cell types: monocytes, macrophages, Kupffer cells, pleural phagocytic cells and dendritic reticular cells. CD14 is present in low density on a subpopulation granulocytes and activated or transformed B-cells. The antibody reacts with both soluble and monocyte surface CD14. Immunogen: a crude mixture of human urinary proteins precipitated by ammonium sulphate from the urine of a patient suffering from proteinuria. Immunoglobulin type:Murine IgG1 Use: The antibody is excellent for use in flow cytometry and Western Blotting (non-reducing conditions). It can also be used in immunoprecipitation, ELISA, functional application (blocks binding of bacterial LPS to the monocyte surface).
