Background
This gene encodes retinoic acid receptor beta, a member ofthe thyroid-steroid hormone receptor superfamily of nucleartranscriptional regulators. This receptor localizes to thecytoplasm and to subnuclear compartments. It binds retinoic acid, the biologically active form of vitamin A which mediates cellularsignalling in embryonic morphogenesis, cell growth anddifferentiation. It is thought that this protein limits growth ofmany cell types by regulating gene expression. The gene was firstidentified in a hepatocellular carcinoma where it flanks ahepatitis B virus integration site. The gene expresses at least twotranscript variants; one additional transcript has been described, but its full length nature has not been determined. [provided byRefSeq].

1st Image Caption
Western blot analysis in K562 cell line lysates (35ug/lane).
2nd Image Caption
Fluorescent confocal image of Hela cell stained with RARB Antibody . Hela cells were fixed with 4% PFA (20 min), permeabilized with Triton X-100 (0.1%, 10 min), then incubated with RARB primary antibody (1:25). For secondary antibody, Alexa Fluor 488 conjugated donkey anti-rabbit antibody (green) was used (1:400).Cytoplasmic actin was counterstained with Alexa Fluor 555 (red) conjugated Phalloidin (7units/ml). Nuclei were counterstained with DAPI (blue) (10 ug/ml, 10 min). RARB immunoreactivity is localized to nucleus significantly.
