cAMP response element-binding protein (CREB) is a transcription factor that regulates the transcription of a wide spectrum of genes in response to second massagers (cAMP and Ca++) and cell growth or stress signals. The primary binding sites of CREB on the promoter regions are cAMP response element (CRE) and calcium response element which have a common 5’-TGACGTCA-3’ motif. CREB can be phosphorylated and activated by cAMP-dependent protein kinase A, calcium/calmodulin-dependent kinase, and kinases in the mitogen-activated kinase (MAPK) and extracelluar signal-regulated kinase (ERK) signal cascades.
CREB plays an important role in neuroplasticity and memory formation by controlling the expression of c-fos, brain-derived neurotrophic factor, tyrosine hydrolase and many neuropeptides.

Double distilled water is recommended to adjust the final concentration to 1.00mg/mL.
