Description
  • Annexin A3 is a member of the annexin family. Members of this calcium-dependent phospholipid-binding protein family play a role in the regulation of cellular growth and in signal transduction pathways. This protein functions in the inhibition of phospholipase A2 and cleavage of inositol 1, 2-cyclic phosphate to form inositol 1-phosphate. This protein may also play a role in anti-coagulation.
  • Tait et al. (1988) and Pepinsky et al. (1988) found that the mature annexin III protein contains 322 amino acids and, like other annexins, consists primarily of 4 copies of a 70- to 80-amino acid repeat unit. By Northern blot analysis, Tait et al. (1993) detected a single ANXA3 mRNA species of approximately 1.7 kb in all tissues tested.
