Description
Myosins are molecular motors that, upon interaction with actin filaments, utilize energy from ATP hydrolysis to generate mechanical force. For further background information on myosins. By RT-PCR analysis of an intestinal epithelial cell line and a liver cDNA library, Bement et al. (1994) obtained multiple cDNAs encoding unconventional myosins, among them a liver cDNA encoding MYO1B. RNase protection analysis detected expression of MYO1B in the intestinal epithelial cell line. The International Radiation Hybrid Mapping Consortium mapped the MYO1B gene to chromosome 2 .
