Background	This gene is a member of the vesicular amine transporter family. The encoded transmembrane protein transports acetylcholine into secretory vesicles for release into the extracellular space. Acetylcholine transport utilizes a proton gradient established by a vacuolar ATPase. This gene is located within the first intron of the choline acetyltransferase gene.
Immunogen	Synthetic peptide from the C-terminus of rat VAChT, conjugated to BSA
Form	Serum containing 0.1% sodium azide
Specificity	The antiserum recognizes VAChT both in the CNS and PNS. Absorption with 10-100 ug immunogen per ml diluted antiserum abolishes staining.
Working Dilution	1:40 to 1:60 using FITC conjugates
