MyD88 is a protein encoded by the MYD88 gene which is approximately 33, 2 in kDa. MyD88 is localised to the cytoplasm. It is involved in activated TLR4 signalling and diseases associated with the TLR signalling cascade. It is a cytosolic adapter protein that plays a central role in the innate and adaptive immune response. It functions as an essential signal transducer in the interleukin-1 and toll-like receptor signalling pathways that regulate the activation of numerous proinflammatory genes. MyD88 is expressed ubiquitously expressed in human tissues. Mutations in the MYD88 gene may result in macroglobulinemia and a MyD88 deficiency. STJ94293 was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity-chromatography using epitope-specific immunogen. This polyclonal antibody detects endogenous levels of MyD88 protein.
