Background	Vinculin is a ubiquitously expressed actin-binding protein and involves in cross-linking of the cell cytoskeleton with the extracellular matrix for mechanical support of the cell. Vinculin is frequently used as a marker for both cell-cell and cell-extracellular matrix (focal adhesion) adherens-type junctions.
