diphenhydramine

Description: DiphenhydramineHCl is a potent and first-generation histamine H1 receptor antagonistand an antiemetic that is used in various allergic conditions such asrhinitis, urticaria and conjunctivitis. Diphenhydramine blockstetrodotoxin-sensitive (TTX-S) and tetrodotoxin-resistant (TTX-R) sodiumcurrents with K(d) values of 48 mM and 86 mM, respectively, at aholding potential of -80 mV. Diphenhydramine shifts theconductance-voltage curve for TTX-S sodium currents in the depolarizingdirection but has little effect on that for TTX-R sodium currents.
