InSoluble in water. Dissolve the peptide in small amount of organic solvent (Acetonitrile etc. ) and then dilute it with desire buffer. Pentagastrin is a synthetic peptide containing the five terminal amino acids of gastrin. Pentagastrin is indicated as a diagnostic aid for evaluation of gastric acid secretory function. Pentagastrin is effective in testing for anacidity (achlorhydria) in patients with suspected pernicious anemia. atrophic gastritis. or gastric carcinoma. Pentagastrin is also effective in determining the reduction in acid output after operations for peptic ulcer. such as vagotomy or gastric resection.
