Specificity:
EPITHELIAL MEMBRANE ANTIGEN
Specificity:
EPITHELIAL MEMBRANE ANTIGEN
Clone:
E29
Immunogen:
Delipidated extract of human cream
Specificity Note:
This product recognises epithelial membrane antigen (EMA) a heavily glycosylated protein of 265-400kD. This antibody stains normal and neoplastic epithelium including adenocarcinomas from a range of sites squamous and transitional cell carcinomas and mesotheliomas. Strong staining of glandular epithelium is seen but staining of squamous epithelium may be rather patchy. Positive staining with this antibody demonstrates epithelial origin of tumours.
Immunohistology:
This product does not require protein digestion pre-treatment of paraffin sections. This product does not require antigen retrieval using heat treatment prior to staining of paraffin sections. Histology: Normal Epithelia
Buffer Solution:
Phosphate buffered saline
Preservative Stabilisers:
0. 09%Sodium Azide1%Bovine Serum AlbuminSuggested
Dilution:

Immunohistology - Frozen - Neat Summary: This protein is a member of the mucin family and encodes a membrane bound glycosylated phosphoprotein. The protein is anchored to the apical surface of many epithelia by a transmembrane domain with the degree of glycosylation varying with cell type. It also includes a 20 aa variable number tandem repeat (VNTR) domain with the number of repeats varying from 20 to 120 in different individuals. The protein serves a protective function by binding to pathogens and also functions in a cell signaling capacity. Overexpression aberrant intracellular localization and changes in glycosylation of this protein have been associated with carcinomas. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants that encode different isoforms of this gene have been reported but the full-length nature of only some has been determined.
