Applications:	The monoclonal antibody HM102 is an agonistic antibody and can be used for cell culture experiments and for flow cytometry. Furthermore the antibody HM102 is useful for immuno assays. immunoprecipitation and histology on frozen sections. The reactivity of the antibody with soluble TNF-Receptor is not inhibited by high concentrations of mouse TNF-alpha. The monoclonal antibody HM102 reacts with the extra-cellular part of the mouse TNF-RII and with the soluble receptor. TNF-RII is present on most cell types and is considered to play a prominent role in cell stimulation by TNF-alpha. The TNF-RII molecule is shown to be responsible for stimulation of activated T-lymphocytes by TNF-alpha.
Function:	Receptor with high affinity for TNFSF2/TNF-alpha and approximately 5-fold lower affinity for homotrimeric TNFSF1/lymphotoxin-alpha. The TRAF1/TRAF2 complex recruits the apoptotic suppressors BIRC2 and BIRC3 to TNFRSF1B/TNFR2. This receptor mediates most of the metabolic effects of TNF-alpha. Isoform 2 blocks TNF-alpha-induced apoptosis which suggests that it regulates TNF-alpha function by antagonizing its biological activity.

Ptm:	A soluble form (tumor necrosis factor binding protein 2) is produced from the membrane form by proteolytic processing. Pharmaceutical: Available under the name Enbrel (Immunex and Wyeth-Ayerst). Used to treat moderate to severe rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Enbrel consist of the extracellular ligand-binding portion of TNFRSF1B linked to an immunoglobulin Fc chain. It binds to TNF-alpha and blocks its interactions with receptors.
