Recognises chicken CD40 a type I intergral membrane protein which is a member of the tumour necrosis factor receptor family. In chickens CD40 is expressed on immature and mature B-cells monocytes and macrophages. The binding of the CD40 ligand to CD40 is reported to play an important role in chicken B-cell development.
