Recombinant Human Prouroguanylin

Prouroguanylin is a 112 aa prohormone precursor of uroguanylin, the biologically active mature protein with the 16 aa peptide of prouroguanylin cleaved from its C-terminus. Uroguanylin and guanylin are peptides located in urine and the intestinal mucosa that regulated cyclic GMP production by enterocytes by activating the apical membrane receptor-quanylate cyclase. Prouroguanyline knock-out mice show impaired renal excretion of external NaCl leading to elevated blood pressure independent of the level of dietary salt intake. Prouroguanylin is the predominant molecular form found in the circulation and in biological fluids. Recombinant Human Prouroguanylin is an 88 aa truncated peptide with 2 additional aa residues at the N-terminus. The protein is purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.
