Description	Desmin is a muscle-specific class III intermediate filament. Homopolymers of this protein form a stable intracytoplasmic filamentous network connecting myofibrils to each other and to the plasma membrane. Mutations in this gene are associated with desmin-related myopathy, a familial cardiac and skeletal myopathy (CSM), and with distal myopathies.

Formulation	Desmin was lyophilized from a 1 mg/ml solution containing 30 mM Tris-HCl, pH 8 + 9.5 M urea + 2 mM DTT + 2 mM EDTA and 10 mM methylammonium chloride.
Molecular Weight	53, 539 dalton.
Reconstitution	Centrifuge vial prior to opening. It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized Desmin in sterile 18 MU-cm water not less than 100 ug/ml, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions.
Storage and Stability	Lyophilized protein is stable at room temperature for 3 weeks, but it is recommended to store the lyophilized product desiccated at -20C to -80C. Upon reconstitution, protein should be stored at 2-4C for one week and for future use at -20C to -80C. Add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA) as a stabilizer for long term storage. Please note that the addition of any carrier protein into this product may produce unwanted endotoxin. This depends upon the particular application employed. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
