Background	Taurine is an abundant organic osmolyte that possesses antioxidant and immunomodulatory properties and plays a role in cell volume homeostasis. Taurine is taken up into cells via the taurine transporter (TAUT). TAUT, which is sodium- and chloride-dependent, is a multi-pass membrane protein belonging to the sodium neurotransmitter symporter (SNF) family of proteins. TNFalpha upregulates TAUT expression, while phosphorylation on Serine 322 downregulates it. Overexpression of TAUT protects renal cells from cisplatin-induced nephrotoxicity.
Product	1 mg/ml in Phosphate buffered saline (PBS) with 0.05% sodium azide, approx. pH 7.2.
Purification and Purity	The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity-chromatography using epitope-specific immunogen and the purity is > 95% (by SDS-PAGE).
Storage and Stability	Store at 4C short term. Aliquot and store at -20C long term. Avoid freeze-thaw cycles.
Specificity	TAUT (G594) pAb detects endogenous levels of TAUT rotein.
IHC	Immunohistochemistry (IHC) analyzes of TAUT (G594) pAb in paraffin-embedded human lung carcinoma tissue at 1:100.
