This product is used to determine sialic acid concentration in human serum.

N - acetyl neuraminic acid is formed from sialic acid in the sample under neuraminidase action. Then N - acetyl mannosamine and Pyruvic acid are produced under NANA - aldolase effect. Lactate dehydrogenase catalyzes the reaction between NADH and Pyruvic acid to generate L - lactic acid and NAD+. The concentration of sialic acid in the sample can be calculated by measuring the decrease rate of NADH absorbance.

This assay kit is suitable for automatic or se mi - automatic biochemical analyzer with 340nm and 405nm wavelength.

The sample should be fresh serum. Samples testing should be completed at the same day after collected. Otherwise, the samples should be cryopreserved and avoid repea ted freeze - thaw cycles. Sialic Acid in the sample s remain stable for 7 days at 2 - 8C.
